I’m gonna level with you: authors sell books. Or try to, in my case. And while some obviously do, I think most of us don’t write to make money. If making money were the goal, I’d be a full time IT consultant instead of putting in the least amount of hours I can get by on. I write because I love it.
If I can turn it into a full-time career, heck yeah, I take it. For now, I’m happy to have a few readers say they’ve enjoyed one or more of my stories. An added pleasure is connecting with readers and others in the author/reader community.
And it’s why so many of us have these newsletters we keep trying to get y’all to subscribe to. (Don’t get me started on social media followers). Honestly, I’d prefer just to write over trying to market myself and my books.
But when I make a connection, when someone replies to one of my newsletters and says they enjoyed the content or one of my many free short stories I send them, that is an unexpected joy of doing what I love.
Question of the day: Do you enjoy connecting with authors?

📺 Are you watching The Boroughs?
An odd little show that is keeping my interest. Is it great? Not really. But it has some interesting twists and turns. Looking forward to seeing where it goes in the last couple of episodes.
